Weird Mom

Nehemiah was running in the house, something he's not supposed to be doing, and tripped. He fell and hurt his bottom. Him and I had this conversation afterwards.

Me: oh, no!! Your bottom fell off!!
Nehemiah: It did?!
Me: Yeah, we'll have to go to the store to get you a new one.
N: Ok
Me: Do you want a big one, or a little one?
N: a little one.
Me: Ok, we'll get you a little bottom.
N: (Reaching around to see what his pants feel like without a bottom in them) It's there Mom!!! It's in my underwear!!!!
Kids make me laugh so much! I could have yelled at him for running in the house, I could have said "I told you so" But...he knew he'd done wrong, and he was hurting, why not lighten the mood?

Live like I was dying...

Today Stephanie and I were texting back and forth. We were talking about hanging laundry on the line (Yup....we lead exciting lives here in Van Wert), and I told her that at the beginning of the season I had to buy a new rope for our clothesline after the neighbor kids broke ours.
I said that it really upset me when I bought it. Not because I was spending the money, but I couldn't stop thinking about Jason.
The same was true after my Grandpa Barnhart died, I couldn't get to an intersection without stopping much longer than needed.
I no longer cry every time I think of their deaths, but I do still miss them.
I don't dwell on how they died, but how they lived.
I can't dwell on how they died.
They are both still talked about. We didn't bury them then forget them.
I started to think, how will I be remembered when I'm gone?
Will my kids think I was too busy for them?
Did I think more of the mess they were making, and not the fun they were having?
Am I too worried about their clothes dirty to let them do what they were wanting to do?

Did I not have people over because they might see dust on my pictures?
Was I too busy to blow bubbles with the kids?

Too busy trying to stay dry to stop and dance in the rain?
Was I too worried about raising the perfect kids, that I corrected when I should have listened? Or just reminded myself that they are still kids?
Was there times I should have said "ok" instead of "No way!"
Were there times I was wanting to get the perfect picture to stop and enjoy the moment?
Was I too busy trying to LOOK right, to LIVE right?
Like our kids, God wants our time, He wants US, not our spotless house.
Too often we want to talk ABOUT someone, rather than talk to them.

How will you be remembered?

Happy 3rd!

Three years ago my world changed. I became a Mom to a wonderful little boy.

It's so much fun watching him grow up and learn new things. He loves counting, and singing, he doesn't know a stranger. He still loves anything to do with Toy Story. He tells his Dad, sister and I "I love you very much!" Or sometimes, "I love you to the moon!!" He's a great big brother to Virginia and I can't wait to see how he does with his new sister! :)

Happy 3rd Handsome man!

Birthdays

This reminds me of Jason so much. I remember him coming home from school and running around and around and around my parents house. Mom finally asked him WHY he was doing that! Did he have candy? What?
He looked at her completely serious and said, "I was good all day at school, I have to be bad now"
Tomorrow would have been Jason's 20th birthday. But forever in our minds, he'll be 19.

Jason was born in 1991, on a Sunday morning. This Sunday morning happened to be Father's Day, and my parents anniversary. I remember my parents dropping us off at Grandma and Grandpa Barnhart's house on their way to Fort Wayne. There had been a few times of false labor, but this time it was real. We went from 4 kids...to 5.

Fort Wayne Zoo

Alex and I had been wanting to take the kids to the zoo, but we were waiting til it wasn't going to rain (So we waited awhile)

We told Nehemiah Monday night we were going to go to the zoo in the morning and his face lit up! He started talking about the animals he was going to see.

Our little tour guide was showing Virginia the zebras

Every year Alex and Nehemiah get their picture taken in this tent, and 2011 was no exception.

We tried to add Virginia to the picture but she wanted to go back to the stroller.

Here I am looking very pregnant.

Can you tell which little girl was excited about riding a train?!

They thought this kangaroo was neat.
Nehemiah said that this time the giraffes were  his favorite. I think Virginia liked feeding the birds her popcorn the best. I'm not sure which animal was her favorite, she seemed to like it all.

Both kids did great, they were happy the whole time. I don't know if we'll get back there this year, with BabyT making her appearance soon.

Get paid

Get paid to take surveys. I started few months ago and have almost $20. An easy and quick way to make a little extra money
