In the Still of the night

Isn't it funny sometimes how God speaks to us?
Last night Alex went to bed and I decided to stay up a little bit.
I didn't have anything I NEEDED to do.
Actually I WANTED to go to bed.
But something told me not to.
So I waited.
I messed around online, I did laundry, I cleaned up some.
Then I did something I don't do.
I checked on my kids.
I don't know why I don't check on them before I go to bed.
But last night I did.
And I could smell Virginia before I could see her.
Both my kids get sick when they are teething , and have awful diapers.
All yesterday Virginia had been not feeling well b/c of her teeth.
I changed her, checked on Miah.
Smiled at Miah b/c he had his Hermie doll sleeping on top of him.
And went back downstairs.
And it hit me.
Any other night, I would have been asleep long before then.
And poor Miss V? That would have been sitting on her, burning her little bottom.
What if I'd waited until morning?
Poor girl already has skin problems, how long would it take to clear that up?
But someone urged me to stay awake.

Trying something new...

Gonna try something I haven't done in a long time....a post with no pictures!!
I have a testimony to post.
I am one of those Mom's who likes to know where her kids are...at all times. And when we're outside I'm extra watchful. I don't like them out of my sight at all. Maybe it's b/c we live with three sides of our house next to roads. Maybe it's b/c the neighbors let their dogs run loose. Or it could just be that I am that way.
But whatever the reason, I'm thanking God that I do keep close tabs on my kids.
Yesterday while I was turning the hose to the garden on, Nehemiah walked to the garden. The hose is on the side of the house, and the garden is behind the house.
In the 30 seconds that he was out of my sight, a van pulled off the road and into the alley behind our house and the man driving started talking to Nehemiah.
When I walked up, the man drove off.
Maybe the guy was being friendly, maybe not. I don't know. But it reminded me to keep my eyes on my kids!

We've been gone!

Alex decided awhile back that during his shut down, we were going on a family vacation! *insert cheers*

We went to Mackinaw City!

Here was Nehemiah's reaction to the water!

Just me, oh....and the bridge

We went into a shop and when we were leaving the lady gave the kids each a shirt!

Who would want to get food from a store with this on top of it? My husband would! Twice!!

Know what this is??

All of us! :)

Nehemiah's favorite thing to do! Throw stones into the lake!

We got up Tuesday morning and headed up. We stopped at my inlaws to give Alex's sister her birthday gift and we were on our way!
Well, until we saw the outlet mall! Alex and I both got some things we were happy about!
We got up to Mackinaw at about 4:30 and headed straight to the beach. Wow, it was COLD!!!
After getting checked into the hotel we went for supper and had pasties.
Alot of our time was spent looking in the different shops. I liked going in and out of each one. Looking at the fudge, or little trinkets.
Both Nehemiah and Virginia were so well behaved while we were there! One morning at breakfast a lady stopped me and told me how great they were. I had to agree :)
I also heard someone say something about the "boy and girl twins" I laughed and kept walking.

I could go on and on about the fun we had....but I'm too tired. Plus I have to get ready for Nehemiah's birthday party!
